The ‘Via Lancia’ was opened on 14th September 2008. Here below is how Adolfo Pascariello reported the importance of the event:
‘Naming the stretch of road through the Mastallone Valley from Varallo to Fobello in memory of Vincenzo Lancia represents the recognition that is owed to this native of Valsesia for all that he has given to this territory in terms of fame and concrete help. Let us take this road in the spirit of a time gone by.
The Valsesia, the Mastallone Valley and Vincenzo Lancia constitute an unbreakable link in time. It is a link so strong that the people of his valley are more than ever proud that this region has produced such an important son, reflecting the values of the mountain folk, the tenacity, the ingenuity, the modesty and innate gentility. It is wonderful to imagine Censin gazing up towards Sabbia as he heads towards Cravagliana.
Fobello, flanked by Rimella and Cervatto, marks the end of the road dedicated to him but the legend of Vincenzo Lancia is more alive than ever. The figure of the great Valsesian is reflected in the numerous works of which he was a benefactor. Vincenzo Lancia is, and remains, a success and a genius, son of the Mastallone Valley, where he looked for his peace. For ever.’
